Today Kunsten \u201992 presents the Handbook Resilient Cultural Sector<\/a>. The guide is the result of a year of research by the Verwey-Jonker Institute, commissioned by Kunsten \u201992 and financially made possible by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cultural and creative sector needs tools to work in the dynamics of social tensions, polarisation and increasing pressure to take positions. Performances and exhibitions are regularly disrupted and employees intimidated. Organisations feel pressure to speak out - or remain silent. While art and culture are pre-eminently the places where multi-voicedness, imagination and connection should be possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study and handbook are in line with the advice Making (z)under pressure <\/em>That the Council for Culture<\/a> published today. In it, the Council stresses the importance of clear frameworks and shared responsibility to protect space for arts and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Resilient Culture Sector Guide offers cultural organisations guidance in carefully weighing up artistic freedom, safety, core values and social responsibility. No ready-made answers, but a tool for anticipating incidents and acting during tensions and after-care. With an eye for employees, makers and audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resilience does not mean avoiding risks or toning down art. It means dealing with social tensions consciously and transparently, from clear core values. In depth: publication Bookman #145 | Artistic freedom under pressure<\/em><\/a> (December 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
