AMSTERDAM, 13 October 2026 \u2013 To mark its centenary, the Amsterdam Museum commissioned the renowned photographer Robin de Puy to photograph one hundred Amsterdammers. The result: a powerful series of portraits that online<\/a> can be seen and, from this afternoon, will also be on display for several months on the 70-metre-long temporary hoarding on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among others, entrepreneur Oos Kesbeke, visual artist Bruin Parry, fashion designer Tess van Zalinge, TV personality Humberto Tan, Rabbi Lody van de Kamp, politician Hedy D\u2019Ancona and tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher were photographed by De Puy.<\/p>\n

Each of the hundred city residents was paired with an object from the Amsterdam Museum\u2019s collection. The museum asked them what the object meant to them, how they viewed their city museum, and what they wished for the museum for the next hundred years. Amsterdam Museum Festival<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Amsterdam Museum will celebrate its 100th anniversary on 2 November with a 100-day festival spanning the entire city. For 100 days, the museum will organise daily activities for a wide range of audiences, with the museum\u2019s collection taking centre stage. Two anniversary books are also being produced, and various exhibitions are opening. The Amsterdam Museum Festival \u2013 Celebrating 100 Years of the City Museum in 100 Days began on 3 September and runs until Friday 11 December 2026.<\/p>\n

The Amsterdam Museum is a city museum that connects residents and visitors with the city and with one another. With a collection of over 100,000 objects, the museum showcases more than 750 years of Amsterdam\u2019s history, art and heritage. It does so through exhibitions and public programmes organised with a wide range of partners across the city.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Amsterdam Museum\u2019s main site on Kalverstraat is currently undergoing renovation. The museum is organising exhibitions and programmes and displaying items from its collection at other venues around the city. The museum is also open daily at two permanent venues: the historic Huis Willet-Holthuysen on Herengracht and Amsterdam in Motion in Westergas Culture Park.<\/em><\/p>\n
