We do this with 17 monitoring committees, consisting of over a hundred experts from the cultural field. The insights gained help the council monitor the institutions, interpret trends and developments and contribute to a well-functioning system.  The...&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The composition of the committees has been carefully chosen. The council has sought a broad mix of expertise, so that both knowledge of established disciplines and innovative, interdisciplinary practices are represented. It also looked for a balanced distribution in terms of region, age, gender and cultural background. Independence and avoidance of (the appearance of) conflicts of interest were carefully safeguarded.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How does monitoring work?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The monitoring committees will start with introductory meetings in March and April, during which they will jointly determine the monitoring focal points. From 2025 to 2027, committee members independently visit activities of BIS institutions, analyse policy documents and annual reports and engage with institutions. In autumn 2026, the committees hold interviews with institutions to discuss observations and draw lessons for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Culture Council has the legal task of monitoring BIS institutions, as stipulated in the Specific Cultural Policy Act. The findings of the monitoring committees contribute to the council's advisory work on policy and subsidies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wondering who is on the committees?
