Delft, Thursday 15 May - It is almost time! On Tuesday 27 May at 19.30, the 14th edition of the Delft Fringe Festival will open with a festive evening in Theater de Veste. With 30 artists on the festival programme this year through 8 June, there is a lot to choose from. Be surprised and inspired by very personal stories with a laugh and a tear at the premier performing arts festival for up-and-coming talent. You can get a taste of current themes and social impact. Enjoy cabaret to dance, music to theatre and everything in between. You will find Delft Fringe Festival all over the city, in an old cigar factory, a centuries-old miller's house or a Delft blue factory. Don't miss it!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Festive opening<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the opening, you will get to see three high-profile and promising performances, including from the winner of the Delft Fringe Festival Audience Award 2024: theatre collective Dystopia. They will go into TIME SOON<\/a> in search of meaning in a world where death is no longer taken for granted. Cornflakes, No Pornflakes<\/a> Collective Tender delves into the remarkable history of breakfast icon Kellogg's. A performance that explores the boundaries of the discussable and exposes the impact of sexual taboos. In SIRA3<\/a> Syrian-born choreographer Lilian Kafa takes you through the experience of burnout and unhealthy stress in a beautiful duo dance performance. The sneak preview of this performance during the Open Studios on 12 April already left spectators eagerly awaiting more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The depths with Fringe Talks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This year, hotspot The Social Hub is our new festival heart. It is the place to catch up and share experiences after a performance or leave for the daily\u00a0Canal and Fringe Tours<\/a>. Also here are the Fringe Talks that delve deeper into current themes in the programme. On Sunday, June 1, discover in Fringe Talk: a look behind the scenes<\/a>\u00a0The stories behind the performances. The makers talk about their inspiration, challenges and goals. In Fringe Talk: unlimited access<\/a> we will engage with a number of institutions and new makers about inclusivity in the performing arts on Friday 6 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social impact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This year, themes of mortality, need for connection, loneliness, identity, adoption, youth care, social norms and domestic violence are at the heart of the performances. The strong social commitment will move, amaze and entertain you.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme also offers a variety of cultures. Besides Lilian Kafa, young performer and choreographer Yadhira De Le\u00f3n Matos from the Dominican Republic dances in SIRA3. In The Sky and Me<\/a> Femke Lucia makes being adopted palpable and puts the human aspect of it centre stage. Born in Bogota, Colombia, she incorporates her personal experience into a magical reality. The Silence We Share<\/a> is an intimate poetic performance in which Surinamese-Dutch multidisciplinary maker Nicchelle Buyne makes her personal search for her grandmother tangible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
