Today, the Cultural and Creative Sector Taskforce presents its Opening and Recovery Plan to the cabinet and the House of Representatives. The aim is a predictable and careful corona approach for audiences, creators and cultural organisations. An approach where the policy reflex is no longer 'closing', but 'staying safely open'; an approach with prospects for recovery.
In the plan, the Taskforce makes six proposals to come out of the crisis agile and resilient. These include a roadmap describing for each risk level of the pandemic how a stage, museum or festival can still safely receive visitors. The plan also sets out what the cultural sector needs to recover from the corona crisis: measures to get audiences to return, to retain creators, artists and independent workers for the sector and to continue offering a full range of programmes in the future.
The plan elaborates on the very worrying situation of creators and self-employed professionals. The Taskforce has drawn up a set of agreements, Fair Pay in emergency and recovery support, which ensures that emergency support reaches all parts of the cultural chain (from creator to technician, to producer and presentation venue). The Fair Practice Code is the starting point in these agreements.
