The cultural field is deeply shaken by the war in Ukraine. This weekend, the cultural sector is taking concerted action for Ukraine with #hArtforUkraine. To show solidarity and to express sympathy and support, participating organisations adorn their buildings in blue and yellow and donate proceeds to Giro 555 of the Cooperating Relief Organisations. The Culture Council wholeheartedly supports this action and expresses its concern for the people in Ukraine.
The National Archives building, which houses the Council for Culture, will also be dedicated to solidarity with Ukraine on 4, 5 and 6 March. On those days, all proceeds from the exhibition, lecture, museum shop and catering there will go to Giro 555 of the cooperating relief organisations. If you come to the National Archives on Friday 4 March or the weekend of 5 and 6 March, buy an extra cup of coffee, or treat yourself to something nice from the shop. Every euro you spend at the National Archives on these days will be donated to Giro 555 and go to Ukraine via the collaborating aid organisations.
The Culture Council wholeheartedly supports this initiative and expresses support for all those suffering from the violence of war in Ukraine: "Our thoughts are with all individuals and families affected by the war, regardless of their nationality. We express our undivided solidarity with Ukrainian artists and the Ukrainian people. We also admire the courageous protest from the Russian cultural sector, which proves once again that artists will not be oppressed by undemocratic regimes."
