Festival Circolo presents a special show at four special locations in Tilburg in the run-up to the largest festival for contemporary circus in the Netherlands.
'Circus is my way of dreaming and giving hope. To live fully, whatever the conditions are'. Jesse Huygh is a circus performer and suffers from cystic fibrosis, or cystic fibrosis, a genetic lung disease.
Despite his illness, he became one of the best acrobats in his discipline, the Chinese pole. When his condition deteriorated significantly and he became more and more dependent on oxygen supply, he and Rocio decided to create a performance about this very thing. Connected together with a two-metre oxygen hose, but still at the highest acrobatic level.
The show was finished during the corona pandemic, which gives it an extra charge.
A 2 mètres is about discovering yourself, helping each other and learning to ask for help and finding strength in the fragility of our existence. A sensitive performance that lingers long and is a tribute to everyone who overcomes the obstacles in their path every day.
Festival Circolo presents the performance in a Tilburg care home and at a number of community centres to give visitors a mental boost.
The performance can be seen:
- Monday 10 October 15.00; Wijkcentrum Zuiderkwartier, Tilburg
- Tuesday 11 October 16.00; District centre Ypelaar, Tilburg
- Wednesday 12 October 14.30; care centre 't Laar
- Thursday, 13 October 12.15; Fontys Campus Stappegoor
