Enjoy new talent with in-person performances across the city

Delft, Monday, Feb 3 - From 27 May to 9 June, Delft will be the stage for talented new makers for nine days. At 30 special locations in the city, 26 talents surprise and move visitors with dance, theatre, music, cabaret and everything in between. The performances often tell very personal stories. Own experiences are magnified on stage, but always touch a core of truth. Visitors experience how performing arts can make profound themes unexpectedly light and discussable. With a laugh and a tear, issues such as climate, relationships, grief, adoption, youth care and AI come to the fore.

Delft Fringe Festival, in a period full of holidays (Ascension, Good Friday and Pentecost), is worth staying home for! Ticket sales start on Saturday 12 April.

Over the past 15 years, the Delft Fringe Festival has grown to become one of the most important theatre festivals for new creators. The festival's role in nurturing and mentoring talented performing artists has not gone unnoticed. This year, Delft Fringe Festival is one of six new institutions to be received an award from Fonds Podiumkunsten. A remarkable achievement in times when cultural organisations often have to fight to stay afloat.

Audience winner Dystopia on stage

Traditionally, the public award winner of 2024, theatre collective Dystopia, back on stage in 2025. Dystopia is a fine example of Delft Fringe Festival as a growing place for new talent. After three years of a show in the programme, this collective won the audience award. They make a form of zap cabaret and soft science fiction, laced with dark humour. Tamara Griffioen, artistic director Delft Fringe Festival: "Dystopia is a perfect fit for Delft Fringe Festival. They come up with fantastic theatre concepts and also know how to use the environment in their performance at every location they play. That is so clever!"

Special locations

Delft Fringe Festival takes place in 2025 at 30 special locations throughout the city. From cosy and intimate in living rooms to raw industrial sites. Besides many familiar locations that have enthusiastically participated in the festival for years, such as the monumental old city hall on the Markt, the centuries-old mill de Roos and the Nieuwe Kerk, there are also a number of new locations on the programme this year.

A new 'hub' coming to life on the second festival weekend this year is the Kabeldistrict aan de Schie. On the site of the former Dutch Cable Factory, a place full of history and industry, visitors will see performances at five locations: Loft Studio, HAL015, Bouldercentrum Delfts Bleau, the Buitentent and the KD Lab.
