The public version of the opinion 'Access to culture; towards a new system in 2029' has won a gold International Creative Media Award. This award, in the "Visual Storytelling, Alternative Storytelling" category, recognises the creative and accessible presentation of the advice, which focuses on the ideas of art and culture for all. The award is presented by the International Editorial-Design & Research Forum, an organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in graphic design and media.

Together with design agency Ontwerpwerk, the Council for Culture has developed a public version that visually reinforces the core message of the advice: art and culture should be accessible to all, doing justice to differences in cultural expressions and regional variation. Through clear visuals and an accessible design, the report has been made less text-oriented and more appealing to a wide audience.

The impact of this approach was confirmed by the golden International Creative Media Award (ICMA). President Kristel Baele called the recognition an important step for the council: "It is not often that an advisory board wins awards for presenting a report. It encourages us to continue to make our opinions even more visually and substantively accessible to a wide audience."

About the price

The International Creative Media Awards reward outstanding publications and design projects worldwide. The gold award in the "Visual storytelling" category underlines the importance of presenting complex topics in an accessible and visual way. The design of the public version integrates the philosophy of the opinion: art and culture should provide space for diversity and be accessible to everyone. This year, a total of 407 entries from 21 countries were judged. In the umbrella category Custom Media, to which the winning advice belongs, entries came from Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Germany.
