We are quite happy with the Netherlands, if only because of the language. After all, we can write in Dutch here, and then there are quite a few people who can read us, and understand us when we speak. In Thailand is a lot harder. But apparently there is a "away-with-us mentality" here. That's what Geert Wilders of the PVV thinks, who does not want us to think of Suriname in terms of slavery and at Indonesia to the police actions.
That mentality is now also being fought by an initiative of many dozens of companies and civil society organisations. Through the website World country Netherlands they are mounting a campaign, led by state-owned bank ING, to convince you all that the Netherlands is tops. If you didn't already think so.
And what does the Netherlands stand for? A picture says more than a thousand words, so the site shows six themes: Rotterdam, The Delta Works, Cows, Tulips, Flatboats and Windmills. It's up to you to decide whether you are missing anything, assuming in advance that you will be found an elitist whiner by the site's builders.
But going forward.
So now we have someone to nominate for the title of 'Best Salesman of the Netherlands'. Names in the comments.
