With the publication The Government Gazette of 8 June 2022 declared the collective labour agreement for theatre and dance 2022-2023 generally binding (AVV). This means that all professional Dutch producers who make theatre and/or dance performances must apply this collective labour agreement for their staff.
CLA parties Nederlandse Associatie voor Podiumkunsten (NAPK) and Kunstenbond have applied for the AVV to regulate the terms of employment for the entire theatre and dance sector at an appropriate level. The collective agreement has a two-year term and will apply from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023.
As of this year, the Drama and Dance CBA includes the following elements:
- structural wage increase of 5% in 2 years
- remuneration scheme for cooperation in publicity and image and sound recording
- regulation on undesirable behaviour
- guideline for dealing with very short contracts.
- raising minimum to 150%
The AVV marks an important step towards strengthening the labour market in the cultural and creative sector. Social partners, partly in line with this opinion, are now entering into consultations on how to promote broad compliance with the collective agreement.
