Quarter revenue 2-year tour for research into cause of ALS
On 9 June, Ksenia Marasanova plays the premiere of her full-length solo theatre production Oscar and Grandma Rose Red at the Polanentheatre in Amsterdam. For this, she adapted the world-famous novella written by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt. Starts at 20.00 and the performance lasts 135 minutes including intermission. Oscar and Granny Rozerood can be seen in theatres and venues throughout the Netherlands until summer 2024.
On life, friendship and love
At the centre is Oscar's search for the essence of life and Granny Rose helps him do so. Everyone is born and dies. In between is that wonderful phenomenon we know as Life. Short for some, longer for others. But what is Life anyway?
Oscar is 10 years old, seriously ill and staying in hospital. There, his parents visit, he has friends and meets Granny Rose Red. Together they have crazy adventures. Oscar and Granny Rose is a magical fairytale about life, love and loving, at once heartbreaking and heartwarming.
Share proceeds to research to benefit ALS
Oscar has Leukaemia, a disease that was fatal to most patients when the book was written 20 years ago. Thanks to scientific research, that is now different. Unfortunately, the same is not true for muscle disease ALS. That is why a quarter of all receipts will benefit ALS research.
Oscar and Grandma Rose Red is Ksenia's third solo performance. For the past two years, Ksenia performed the compelling and confrontational play 'They Saw War'. In it, she explores what drives a person to go to war. In her first solo performance 'Strannik', she wandered through the soul as a pilgrim. In Oscar and Granny Rose is about the elusiveness of life.
