From 21 to 30 October, the number of open mouths, squinted eyes and squeezed buttocks in the heart of Tilburg increases dramatically. The Netherlands' largest circus festival, Festival Circolo, will then descend on Spoorpark Tilburg for ten days of top-quality contemporary circus. Since 2007, Festival Circolo has been a fixture for lovers of contemporary circus, theatre and dance. The largest circus festival in the Netherlands shows circus anno 2022 in performances filled with artistic excellence, sharp humour and theatrical beauty. From 21 to 30 October, the international top circus performers will travel to Tilburg to show how extraordinary people and their stories are. In refreshing performances, they will show that circus is alive and kicking, always on the move and can still take your breath away.
New jacket
Among other things, Festival Circolo presents Groupe Acrobatique de Tanger, a 15-strong Moroccan circus collective that pays a colourful tribute to their homeland in a vibrant show featuring dance, acrobatics, taekwondo, football and breakdance. Also MOVEDBYMATTER and Collectif Malunés travel to Tilburg with the acclaimed show BITBYBIT. Two biting brothers breathe new life into the classic circus technique Jaws of Steel with enormous conviction. With a bit in their mouths and a steel cable stretched between them, they play a teeth-grindingly exciting game just centimetres from the audience.
Talk about old disciplines in a new guise: Wes Peden's Rollercoaster can also be seen at Festival Circolo 2022 this year. Anyone who thinks juggling is dull has never seen this rock star at work. In a banging solo show, the top juggler, armed with long tubes and propelled by a pumping beat, takes you into his neon-coloured world. You will not see more difficult and unique juggling this year.
Furthermore, the festival is proud to welcome Circus Ronaldo with the performance Sono Io?. A father and son, from a seven-generation circus family, show that clowning can not only be hilarious, but also moving. In a stunning portrait, they go in search of themselves and others, touching the core of our humanity. Furthermore, the 2022 festival offers plenty of space to the new generation of circus artists in the Fontys Arena and Theater de Nieuwe Vorst. On the move
The festival, which last year took place in Leijpark, will move its festival heart two kilometres as the crow flies to Spoorpark Tilburg in 2022. Here you will find several circus tents, food trucks, play equipment, campfire spots and a 9-metre-high play structure on which free performances will be played daily. In addition, several performances can be found at satellite locations in the city, for instance Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg and Theater de Nieuwe Vorst have committed to the festival.
