We take stock halfway through this edition of Theatre Festival Boulevard in Den Bosch. Host Wijbrand Schaap does so together with Dana Kibbelaar, since this year a member of the two-headed management (with Tessa Smeulers), writer and journalist Jowi Schmitz, dance critic Helen Westerik, and makers Oscar Kocken and Jellie Schippers.
We talk about what is so special about this festival, so far outside the Randstad that Amsterdammers in particular (media and creators) often find it difficult to attend, and how such a city provides its own loyal audience. Most of all, we talk about how wonderful such a festival is. And not just because it's summer. It's about cartel edges, about finding a form together and about a power cut.
