12 grapes. 12 courses. 12 wishes for the new year.

Utrecht, 6 December 2023 - It was a busy year for the NUT (Nieuw Utrechts Toneel), which included their already tenth summer performance on location in Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht. However, it is not the only tradition of the NUT that continues faithfully, as in January 2024 they will return to a permanent base for the tradition of 12 Good intentions: a varied evening of theatre to kick off the new year. Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 January is 12 Good intentions to be seen at Podium Hoge Woerd.

The future of money

NUT's theatre is not only about playing, but equally about the conversation afterwards. Every year, the company explores and plays within a new theme. In 2023, this was the 'future of money'. In 2023, the NUT collectively gave in to the feeling that something has to change. But what? Because when do you have enough? What is really worth gold? Can we devise an economic model without inequality, in balance with nature (while we're at it)? What about the art of giving and what is it like when you have nothing to give? All these questions and more passed in 2023. In 12 Good intentions it all comes together: it is a finale to a year of theatre about the future of money and, above all, a dose of inspiration to start the new year off right.

Twelve grapes (Doce uvas) is a Spanish tradition on New Year's Eve. With each chime at midnight, a grape is eaten for good luck in the new year. 12 Good intentions is a tantalising, warm evening of theatre at long tables, inspired by this Spanish custom.
