Winfred Voordendag will take over the business directorship ad interim from outgoing director Bernadette Stokvis from 1 November 2024. Winfred has worked as a business leader or director in the arts sector for 25 years and is looking forward to getting started at Maas.
Cobi van Beek, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Maas theatre and dance, on the appointment:
"Maas is on the move. It always has been and hopefully always will be. The as yet highly acclaimed arts plan will be further developed in the coming period. The choice of an interim business director-director gives us more time to let the elaboration and development continue, on the one hand. On the other hand, it gives us more time to look for a permanent business director-director, fitting the plans and wishes for the coming years.
The SB is delighted that Winfred came our way. He understands like no other what is needed to move the organisation forward. Together with the artistic directors, a solid leadership is in place for the coming period, working on a socially highly relevant course."
Winfred Voordendag has worked as a business leader or business director in the arts sector for some 25 years. Both at somewhat larger organisations such as Schouwburg Kunstmin, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, Kröller-Müller Museum and BNNVARA, and at places where development and talent development are important: Guesthouse Frascati Amsterdam, Operadagen Rotterdam, Theater aan de Rijn Arnhem, Nederlandse Dansdagen in Maastricht and Korzo in The Hague.
For the last three years, he has worked as a freelancer with a mixed practice in which interim assignments and executive search assignments are the largest elements. He also advises governments, coaches artists and business leaders and chairs committees advising on project grants.
Winfred has lived in Rotterdam, in the Oude Westen area, since 1998 and is also looking forward to working close to home again from 1 November:
"I am really looking forward to working at Maas theatre and dance in the coming period and continuing what has been so strongly and passionately set up and built on the Müllerpier in recent years.
For many children, including mine, performances by Maas are among the first, and therefore the longest cherished, theatre experiences. I find the new directions the company and stage are now taking exciting and relevant. I hope to learn from them and also contribute to ensuring that the plans can come to fruition in the best possible way."
