Delft, Tuesday, 8 October, 2024 - The 14th edition of Delft Fringe Festival opens its doors to new makers with an open call. In 2025, there are 25 play spaces to be filled at the festival. With exciting, hilarious, moving, surprising, disruptive and innovative performances. The festival likes to be surprised by all the untamed talents, artistic experiments and cool new makers. You can apply until 30 November 2024. The festival will take place between 27 May and 8 June 2025.

Bold choices

Delft Fringe Festival offers new creators who want to develop artistically a place to work on their careers. The 25 performance spaces in 2025 will be filled with performances that manage to excite, seduce, amaze, entertain and/or move audiences. In its selection, Delft Fringe Festival makes bold choices, both in terms of subject matter and genre. For 14 years, the festival has given ample space to makers who break barriers and taboos and cause social and intellectual shifts.

Innovative and taboo-breaking

Since last year, the genre 'performance' is definitely on the programme of Delft Fringe Festival: "Makers no longer let themselves be defined - or limited - to just music or dance or cabaret, but look at how they really want to tell their story." You will also see a lot of autobiographical work, based on personal experiences combined with solid research, on topics such as abortion, immigration, gender, orientation, identity and the climate.

New: Network Unprecedented Talent

In the selection of performances, Delft Fringe Festival seeks a balance between graduated new makers, self-taught artists and art students. In this, the programme team is supported by the newly established Unprecedented Talent Network. A council of tipsters consisting of critical sparring and cooperation partners from the field. Such as casting editors, theatre programmers and talent development coaches from all over the country and from various disciplines in the performing arts.

How does registration work?

Delft Fringe Festival works with an open call, which means that creators have until 30 November 2024 to apply for the festival from 27 May to 8 June 2025. This can be done online via www.delftfringefestival.nl. The aim is to complete the selection of makers playing at the festival by January 2025.

About Delft Fringe Festival

Delft Fringe Festival is one of the most important and largest performing arts festivals for new creators in the Netherlands. In fact, within South Holland, it is the only performing arts festival that focuses entirely on new talent. Performances take place at dozens of unexpected locations, such as an ancient windmill, houseboat or former cigar factory.

The festival offers new creators a place to perform, gain experience and get feedback, from both audiences and professionals, including theatre agents and scouts. An audience prize is awarded, attracting considerable attention. The organisation also offers extra guidance in the development of talents.

The Delft Fringe Festival has been included by Fonds Podiumkunsten as one of six new festivals in their 2025-2028 multi-year scheme.
