On 19, 20, and 21 December, Maas theatre and dance, What You See Festival and Jonge Harten Festival will present three theatrical investigations for youth in the joint programme at the Maaspodium in Rotterdam From here onwards: creators Guilliano Pinas, Art Wutthinan Srisayam and Sue-Ann Bel all three share a personal story in their own artistic way.

From here onwards is a joint research project by Maas theatre and dance (Rotterdam), What You See Festival (Utrecht) and Jonge Harten Festival (Groningen). Based on a need to actively approach shifting worldviews of younger generations, What You See invites From here onwards invited three theatre makers to experiment with new work for children and young people. Each of them explores in their own way how to claim the space you are given in the world.

Sue-Ann Bel focuses on her relationship with her body, Art Wutthinan Srisayam looks at its role within the family, and Guilliano Pinas describes how he unites the masculine and feminine in himself. Their stories, from intimate to universal, touch on questions of identity: who am I, where do I belong, and how do I move in the space I have? Three extremely personal and vulnerable stories in three different forms.

PORRIDGE (9+) BY ART WUTTHINAN SRISAYAM

With Pap (9+) puts dancer, choreographer and creator Art Wutthinan Srisayam his cooking cooker on stage and explores what he was brought up with. By stirring, smelling and grinding fresh herbs with a mortar, Art hopes to get closer to his late father with this solo performance. Who was he and what of him remains? For this project, Art travelled to Thailand to meet his father's family again after more than 20 years. There, he recovered an important memory: how his father taught him to cook.

How can you cook and dance at the same time? What emotion is triggered by an ingredient or cooking technique? What smells at home? Pap is a steaming show about comfort food and family memories for anyone aged nine and above.

MY PERIOD IS OUR PERIOD (10+) BY SUE-ANN BEL

Snuggle under a blanket in the new musical research project My period is our period (10+) from creator and player Sue-Ann Bel. Together with Sue-Ann, dive into the vulvaverse. Why do we talk so little about the menstrual cycle, when almost half the people on this earth bleed monthly? Or grieve because they don't. With this project, Sue-Ann stays close to herself and explores what goes on in her body. She sings her womb with a lullaby and dances through the four seasons of her cycle. When we open our legs, and let things really flow, does connection arise beyond the taboo?

My period is our period is a preliminary examination of the performance Tasty Ongie which Sue-Ann Bel will make at Maas theatre and dance in 2026 for a young audience aged ten and above. In this research period, Sue-Ann wants to find out how to make this subject discussable for young people. How do you create a safe space to share about this?

ALTER EGO (12+) BY GUILLIANO PINAS

ALTER EGO (12+) is a fiery performance by creator, choreographer and founder of Rotterdam's vogue dance community (Ballroom) Kiki House of Angels Guilliano Pinas. With ALTER EGO Guilliano brings a personal story about the struggles of his youth. How could he bring together the masculine and feminine sides in himself? Through Ballroom, Guilliano got to know these two dualities in himself better. They were allowed to be there, in the same space, and entered into a conversation with each other: Who are you? I am you. We are one. In ALTER EGO Guilliano, together with two performers, shows this process in movement and language. A performance about self-acceptance and the love of Ballroom.

THREE STORIES IN ONE EVENING

Dad, My period is our period and ALTER EGO can be seen in a triple bill at the Maas stage on 19, 20, and 21 December. Based on the belief that education is integral to any project for youth at Maas, these evenings also showcase the three education projects created in response to these studies. Three young people, under professional guidance, created their own art expression on the three themes.

Tickets are available from maastd.co.uk.
