Tomorrow begins The International Choice of The Rotterdam Theatre. A festival that for years has presented remarkable theatre from all over the world at the Maasstad's theatre in September. Except this year, that is, because the 'chest of quist' is being rebuilt and that will take some time. Not something with Amsterdam metro builders, but whether the official reopening on 2 October 2010 will be met remains to be seen. Until then, on location, and in Rotterdam that almost always means exciting places: a vacant flat in Pendrecht, a desolate harbour building near the Keileweg, where the former finishing area has been filled with something for Do-It-Yourselfers, and a navy shed.
All accessible by bus, bike and metro, that is. And we from The Dodo are there. After every premiere, we confront our reviewers Anneriek de Jong, Margriet Prinssen, Maarten Baanders, Jowi Schmitz, Hans van Dam, Leo Bankersen and Wijbrand Schaap with a maker, dancer or player for a short conversation on video. The next morning, the review is online. And we follow what happens next, together with the men and women of foundation Image reviews.
Follow us, and you'll keep up. From 10 September to 3 October 2010.
