The Concertgebouw Amsterdam has found its first 'partner' in the large capital-rich business community. With this, the Netherlands' world-famous crown jewel fulfils the Rutte Cabinet's desire to get more money 'from the market'. By the way, the capital-rich party found is not from the Netherlands, but from Germany:
"With effect from 1 January 2011, Deutsche Bank and The Concertgebouw NV an exclusive partnership for a period of at least five years."
The press release further reports:
"This also commits Deutsche Bank as a corporate partner to the 125th anniversary of The Concertgebouw in 2013.
The collaboration will be sealed today by the two boards signing a cooperation agreement. This is the first time in its history that the Concertgebouw has found a corporate partner by its side.
The partnership between The Concertgebouw and Deutsche Bank focuses in particular on the special activities that The Concertgebouw has been developing for ten years in the field of education and participation. Efforts will also be made to develop young talent, including by establishing the Deutsche Bank Young Talent Award.
Deutsche Bank's mission statement, 'Passion to Perform', dovetails perfectly with that of the Concertgebouw: 'Enriching people with the most beautiful music'. The corporate partnership enables Deutsche Bank to further shape its desire to promote social responsibility.
The Concertgebouw, created in 1888 from an initiative by leading Amsterdam citizens, is funded for 95% with private funds. This is partly possible thanks to close cooperation with the business community and support from private individuals. The cooperation with Deutsche Bank fits perfectly into this tradition. There remains plenty of scope for other companies to link their names as sponsors to concerts, series and festivals from The Concertgebouw's Own Programming.
Deutsche Bank, which has maintained ties with the Netherlands as a financial services provider for almost a century, has been the fourth largest business bank in the Netherlands since April 2010. The bank has a tradition of supporting culture and music based on the philosophy that "creativity and inspiration opens the mind to innovative solutions". For example, Deutsche Bank has supported the Berliner Philharmoniker for 20 years, a relationship (exclusive since 2002) that has enabled the orchestra to develop a world-leading education and participation programme.
The long-standing partnership between the Concertgebouw and Deutsche Bank today is part of the rich tradition that both partners -independently of each other- have."
