In the Empire, a man always writes the same book and others wear the same shirt

We were deep in Amsterdam's canal belt for a while. After all, prominent resident of this city Rudi Fuchs was presented with a new booklet, written by himself together on the pages of De Groene Amsterdammer. This weekly magazine, by all accounts the oldest in the country, hosts the art connoisseur and former museum director in its pages. On it, he stomach writing about works of art that inspire him, about how beautiful, how technically good or at least remarkable it is put together, that sort of thing.

So the presentation of the book was at the rijksmuseum, which, according to director and master of ceremonies Wim Pijbes, will actually open in January. 2013, he added. Hope the old Fuchs makes it. Whether this book will be on the ramsj by then? Could be. The publication will not receive much publicity. There was no press at the presentation, except for us, and nobody seemed to care. A book is a book. When it is written, it is finished. Before there was nothing, now there is something. And whether anyone reads it anymore?

Let us know.
