State secretary does not give museum park Orientalis a cent
(...) Interim director Peter Berns had asked Zijlstra, state secretary of Education, Culture and Science, for a one-off subsidy of six million euros. The province of Gelderland is willing to possibly make a one-off contribution, but only if the state will also come over the bridge. So that is not the case now, confirms a disappointed Berns.

Amsterdam arts cuts continue
A majority of the Amsterdam City Council agrees with the 10 million euro cut in arts and culture subsidies. (..)
The lion's share of the cuts (6.5 million) will fall on large institutions, such as the Stadsschouwburg and Toneelgroep Amsterdam. Cuts will also be made to the Amsterdam Uitbureau and the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts. (..)
[Dozens of institutions] are especially afraid of a "stacking" of cuts by the central government and the municipality. It was previously revealed that the central government is cutting around €50 million from Amsterdam institutions. (..)

Groningen / Drenthe - 3,000 signatures for Theatre on Water
(...) With the signature campaign, the group wants to achieve that the province of Groningen makes a change in the draft culture note and that they include Theater te Water [on theatre ship de Verwondering] in the culture note. It is about the subsidy from 1 January 2013. (..)
"We have now been written out, like many others, while we were subsidised by the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe for years. I am afraid we will cease to exist if the subsidy disappears."
Whether the subisidy from the province of Drenthe will remain is still unclear. (..)

Amersfoort - Harsh criticism of college over Eemhuis
The Amersfoort municipality's college and civil service top brass were given a thrashing on Wednesday in a report on the construction of an Eemhuis cultural centre. The council, which had asked for the investigation, was given incomplete information about the project.
As a result, problems with budgets surfaced too late and the city council knew too late that the project was more expensive than planned. (..)

Eindhoven auctions BKR art
Eindhoven municipality will auction in December part of its art collection acquired through the Visual Artists Scheme (BKR) between 1960 and 1990. The artworks will be on display from 1 December at www.eindhovenveiltkunst.nl.

Vlissingen library building sale not going smoothly
(...) To speed up the sale, the building will be prominently displayed. This is because if it fails to sell the building by 1 January 2012, the library will have to cut an additional €150,000.
Vlissingen municipality has to cut €400,000 a year from its library.
