On Sunday 24 November, the PAN officially opens its doors to the public. Here, over a hundred galleries and dealers will show what is for sale in art, antiques and design. A small museum, then, but one where everything is for sale. A painting worth a million euros is no exception. Yet there are also objects for sale for much less.
The nice thing about PAN is that it is not only a fairly large fair, but also very diverse. One minute you're looking at old Arab carpets, five metres further you're looking at paintings that have only just dried and another five metres further you see 17th-century pottery. Not everything may be equally interesting, but every year I find things I didn't know existed. Fortunately, I don't have to buy anything myself, but looking is an experience in itself.
Here is a pictorial report of what is on show. Sometimes it's real art, sometimes it's kitsch.
Watch and decide for yourself!
