Eavesdropping mandatory

Once in a while it resurfaces, the next idea. An ideal of the future: if some public talker were to eavesdrop a little more on musicians. What will take place then?

In the clay

Would the same thing happen that has been audible in the Dutch musical landscape for a while now: shuffling cultures. Taking inspiration from the rest of the world. Being a sponge. Show that there can't be enough mixing. Playing with and across borders. More than ever. With their feet firmly planted in their (Turkish, Dutch, jazz, classical music) native soil, of course.

Mix

So that a new language of its own emerges that is understood by many people as witnessed by the packed concert halls. This mishmash of music is a beautiful allusion to what else the world needs: to hear, taste and smell the culture of others.

Examples sat

A bit of yourself and a bit of Chopin. Just listen to Karsu, pianist, singer and composer who draws from her Turkish and Dutch background.

A bit of yourself and a bit from India. Just listen to The Nordinians: violin, guitar and tabla.

A bit of yourself and that nice lot mixed with Yiddish, jazz and Jacques Brel, among others. Just listen to Holland Baroque Society (baroque orchestra) which playfully links from the Western early music tradition to other styles.

A bit of yourself and a lot from the rest of the world. Just listen to Rembrandt Frerichs, jazz pianist and composer who creates resounding projects with piano (forte), kemence and double bass to name but one exotic mix.

New sounds and rituals are thus entering traditional concert halls. Let that be an example for many worldly issues at play now

A suivre (type I hope).
