Een vrouwelijke Johnny Cash, krachtig, diep persoonlijk en met een politiek engagement dat je niet vaak hoort. De Vlaamse dichter Stefan Hertmans was vol lof over het optreden van Carmien Michels op de finale van het NK Poetry Slam 2016. De schrijfster met twee romans en een paar bundels op haar naam was inderdaad een klasse apart: haar gedichten maakten de zaal echt stil. Haar zeven medefinalisten hadden eigenlijk vanaf het begin al het nakijken.
