The message of the successful roulement of the Dutch thriller Prey in over 4,000 Chinese cinemas is less than a month old, or producer Shooting Star is already seeing another film go to China. The licence for The conductor by Maria Peters has been sold to China's Teamer International.
That company hopes to release the film in cinemas there. Provided the censors do not object and The conductor fits within the quota. A maximum of 34 international productions per year are allowed to share in the Chinese receipts.
Danielle Raaphorst of sales agent Incredible Film made the contact for sales of The conductor at the Berlin festival. The film will also be offered again at the Cannes festival market.
