Five authors have a chance to win the 2021 Golden Noose, the award for the best suspense book. The nominees are:
- René Appel - Surplus (Ambo|Anthos)
- Bernice Berkleef - Bloodstone (The House of Books)
- Toni Coppers - The murder of Arno Linter (Manteau)
- Hugo Luijten - Undercover. All or nothing (Lannoo)
- Saskia Noort - Bonus child (The House of Books)
The five nominees were announced full-page in morning newspaper AD this morning.The jury chose these five titles from 80 entries from a total of 24 Dutch and Flemish publishers and imprints.
Winner(s)
The winner will be announced on 5 June. Under the title 'The Dutch thriller awards 2021', the four most important thriller awards will be presented that day from the Utrecht Neude Library via a livestream. Besides the Golden Noose, they are the Hebban Thriller Prize, Shadow Prize and Silver Noose. The ceremony kicks off 'De week van het spannende boek', which starts on Monday 7 June.
Online
With 'The Dutch thriller awards 2021', the Utrecht Library, readers' platform Hebban.nl and the Stichting Gouden Strop join forces for an annual thriller event. Due to coronagraphs, this year's award ceremony can only be followed online by the public. In 2022 and 2023, a vibrant thriller event will be organised under the working title 'Nacht van het spannende boek'.
The presentation of 'The Dutch thriller awards 2021' can be seen live on Saturday 5 June 2021 from 13.30 to 14.40 on libraryutrecht.nl/thriller-prizes. The final part, the awarding of the Gouden Strop, can also be followed live on AD.nl.
Jury Golden Noose
Apart from chairman Koen Voskuil (reporter and crime journalist AD), the jury consists of Arno Ruitenbeek (freelance journalist and reviewer a.o. VN's Detective & Thrillergids), Rolf Bos (freelance reviewer), Ellis Gielen (passionate thriller seller at Stevens bookshop in Hoofddorp) and Amber Martensen ('Stoerste thriller seller of the Netherlands 2020', from Thomas bookshop in Bergen NH).
