On 10 July 2022, the four nominees for this prize were announced for the BNG Bank Circus Prize 2022. From 32 graduation acts from the two Dutch higher vocational circus schools, the jury selected four that have a chance of winning the €5,000 prize.
The nominees are;
– Fenja Barteldres (Codarts) with her cyr wheel act 'Cyrrealism'
– Harvey Cobb (Codarts) with his object manipulation act 'Something about Pink'
– Jef Kinds (Codarts) with his aerial straps act ' Osmium'
– Jonas Bolliger (Codarts) with his floor acrobatics act 'This'
The award will be presented by Harald Bergmann, board member of the BNG Bank Culture Fund and mayor of Middelburg on Sunday 30 October 2022 during the closing performance of Festival Circolo in Tilburg.
The award is an initiative of the BNG Culture Fund and Circuspunt, the platform of the Dutch circus field. It is one of the cultural awards established by the bank to encourage and support up-and-coming talent in their further development. The BNG Bank Circus Prize is awarded to the most distinctive talent that graduated in that year from one of the two HBO circus programmes in the Netherlands (Codarts Circus Rotterdam and the Fontys Academy for Circus and Perfomance Art in Tilburg).
Previous winners of the BNG Bank Circus Prize: 2017 Familiar Faces (acrobatics), 2018 David Eisele (diabolo), 2019 Knot on Hands (acrobatics), 2021 Melody Nolan (handstands/floor acrobatics). In 2020, the final could not take place and the prize was divided among the 4 nominees.
