On Sunday 13 November, November Music in 's-Hertogenbosch closed the 30th edition of the festival with the announcement of the composers in focus for 2023: Aart Strootman and John Zorn. Bosch Requiem will then be composed by Aart Strootman on a text Jan Rot wrote especially for it just before his lamented death earlier this year. In addition, John Zorn returns to November Music for the music marathon Zorn at 70 and there is a composition commission for saxophonist Kika Sprangers. Cellist Maya Fridman will be artist-in-residence. Also, two premieres by two Irish composers Jennifer Walshe and Ann Cleare. The next festival edition will take place from 1 to 12 November 2023.

November Music 2022

One can look back on a successful and exciting edition of November Music 2022. The programme was very varied and diverse audiences attended the concerts on a large scale, with lovers of electronic (dance) music, contemporary choral singing and world music mixing effortlessly. Such a broad format is unique within the Dutch festival landscape. The 2022 edition was well attended. (Visitor figures are not yet known).

What November Music stands for and what has been achieved in 2022

November Music is the festival for all adventurous music lovers. Every year, it brings together the most idiosyncratic and progressive creators and musicians from all over the world. Not with the flow or against it, but with new, own currents. It is precisely by giving a place to all these different sounds that November Music allows a personal and individual story to be heard, just as the makers themselves do. The Bosch Requiem composed by Joey Roukens was one of the highlights this year, as were the concerts by festival composer Bryce Dessner. For the second year, the young FAQ electronic music festival was part of November Music. In total, there were more than 100 concerts over 11 days with over 60 premieres and 20 composition commissions.

November Music stands for experiencing modern composed music, jazz, world music, music theatre, pop, installations and genres you never thought possible yourself. November Music creates encounters and challenges creators to jump into the deep end.
