From 16 to 18 December Cinedans WEB Special: Inevitable Dances.
The programme can be seen online at Cinedans WEB and consists of the documentary When Arabs Danced by director Jawad Rhalib and four dance shorts by makers from Iran, Lebanon and Egypt.
The programme is offered free of charge at https://cinedans.nl/inevitable-dances/
A donation is appreciated and will entirely benefit filmmakers in need.
With the programme, Cinedans aims to draw attention to a number of extraordinary films from the Middle East that variously choose dance as their subject or form of expression, thus giving imagination to a number of pressing themes. The films offer a glimpse into the lifeworlds of these makers in which, for us, freedoms often taken for granted mean a direct, concealed or inner struggle for them.
With this WEB special Cinedans also wants to draw attention to the current uprising in Iran, which is being brutally crushed. We want to give heart to all the women, protesters and the artists who are standing up against the repression of the regime, risking imprisonment or worse.
