The Zilveren Krulstaarten were awarded on Saturday afternoon 25 March in Amsterdam to the writers of the best film and television scripts of 2022. Once started as a giants' prize because of the lack of a Golden Calf for screenplay, the Zilveren Krulstaarten have now become the Dutch professional awards for screenwriters.
Winners are chosen annually by members of the Authors' Society's Screenwriters Network. With this award, the Authors' Association aims to generate more interest in screenwriters. After all, without screenwriters, there are no films and series.
The 2022 Winners are:
Best screenplay Film
- El Houb - Shariff Nasr, Philip Delmaar
First feature film to discuss the sensitivity around coming-out in the Dutch-Moroccan community. How do you discuss the elephant in the room, within a family that avoids sensitive topics by definition?
Best screenplay TV series
- The year of Fortuyn - Pieter Bart Korthuis and Nathan Vecht
Dramatised version of the events surrounding the election battle between Pim Fortuyn and Ad Melkert, in the run-up to the 2002 parliamentary elections and the assassination of Pim Fortuyn.
Best scenario Short (up to 60 minutes)
- A Capella in D minor - Caspar van Woudenberg
Film Academy, batch 2022. On a warm summer evening, four parents struggle with their parenthood when they have to answer their infatuated children's rash question together: can they start having sex?
Silver Pen for Marieta van Olphen
The board of the Scenario Writers Network annually awards the Silver Pen to a person or organisation that has made a special achievement for the field of Scenario. This year, the Silver Pen goes to Marieta van Olphen, the face of the Scenario Writers Network for more than 25 years. Van Olphen energetically and passionately organises a wide range of activities, from award ceremonies to large-scale meetings with international speakers. She always has a listening ear for all those, seemingly so solo, writers who greatly appreciate this personal and, above all, genuine attention. She has taken so many cues over the years that she has become a hub of the industry.
Golden Pen for screenwriters Soof 3
The Golden Pen, awarded annually to the screenwriter of the best-attended Dutch film of the past year, went to Luuk van Bemmelen, Anne de Clercq and Eddy Terstall. Soof 3 attracted 497,228 visitors to cinemas in 2022, despite coronagraphs.
