Utrecht - With the performance Good gold money theatre maker Greg Nottrot (artistic director of the NUT) managed to raise €101,332.80 from his audience this spring. This production was received with high praise by both the press and the audience and responds to that strong feeling that ''something has to change'' from both the creator and the audience itself. Good gold money could be seen at Oerol Festival and on the Berlin Square in Utrecht Leidsche Rijn. It marks the kick-off of a major project in 2025, entitled The capitalists.

From standing ovations to angry reactions and everything in between: Good gold money confronts audiences with the complexities of money and the ethical dilemmas associated with it. With his activist, poetic and theatrical work, Nottrot has made his audience think at Terschelling and in Utrecht.

The success of Good gold money is not only a confirmation of Nottrot's gift for presenting socially relevant themes in a compelling way. It also shows how important the themes of 'money' and 'equality' are and how widely supported that is. A sequel to this theatre project is therefore planned for 2025. The excess capital raised is the seed capital for The Capitalists, with which the NUT will stage a world-saving production at Oerol Festival 2025.

"Why not? Why shouldn't I give it a shot? I am a good host. I am not afraid of great ambition. I am not afraid of failure. I am not afraid of the cynics, the realists or the pragmatists. I am not afraid. I organise a meeting between inspired idealists, smart economists, committed politicians, visionary wealthy people, fantastic theatre-makers and a benevolent and committed public that wants change. And together we make a plan. A concrete plan. A plan for change." Out: Good gold money
