In August, Theatre Festival Boulevard returns to the city centre of 's-Hertogenbosch. After three great years in the Zuiderpark, the festival heart returns to the Parade.

For the past three years, Boulevard built its festival heart in the Zuiderpark, with an annex on the Parade and performances right across the city. The refurbishment of Theater aan de Parade and the, pandemic-induced, call for physical space resulted in a temporary relocation. The Parade will soon be completely free of construction huts and fences, Theater aan de Parade has opened its doors and this year Boulevard celebrates its 40e edition. A great time to return to the city centre. The Parade once again forms the festival heart and the boundaries of the square are stretched to various locations in the surrounding streets and squares. There will also be site-specific performances in special places in and around the city.

"The Zuiderpark provided the festival with a beautiful green and spacious venue for three years. In the poplar circle, many makers showed performances on a fairy-tale stage, the floating bar was a popular destination and the walk past the many theatre tents and restaurants provided a fine festival experience for a large audience. We will miss the space and the contact with local residents. But we also look forward to returning to the familiar city centre and Parade, a place where the festival was allowed to pitch its tents for 35 years. We return happy," said directors Tessa Smeulers and Dana Kibbelaar.

Boulevard's team is busy planning for next summer. The festival is celebrating its 40e anniversary, an edition that looks back, but above all looks forward to the future. From Thursday 1 to Sunday 11 August 2024, 's-Hertogenbosch will again be the place for encounters, theatre, music and more.
