's-Hertogenbosch, 6 March 2024 - From 1 January 2025, Madeleine Matzer will step down as artistic director and director-director of MATZER Theatre Productions. She founded the company in 2007 and has since made dozens of performances that played at a variety of venues: from Theatre Carré to care homes.
In recent years, she not only directed, she also wrote the successful performances You can feel free to give me a
secret telling and Broos. These will remain on the repertoire in the coming years. Under Madeleine, MATZER developed into a solid company that links artistic quality to cultural entrepreneurship and has an open eye to the social issues of our time.
In her final year as artistic director, Madeleine is making a few more performances: The Stone in My Mouth (spring 2024) and Blood Sister (autumn 2024). The performance Landmine marks the transition in spring 2025.
Madeleine Matzer is retiring and dramatist and talent coach Martine Manten succeeds her as artistic director. Martine will continue to build on MATZER's solid foundation from 2025 and expand into a multi-voiced makers' house. She will shape the house with a small core of makers, including Lot Vekemans and Melissa Knollenburg.
Martine Manten has worked with various companies (most recently with the successful HNTjong alongside Noël Fischer) and is committed to bringing experienced and young creators together, focusing on the exchange of perspectives and knowledge. She knows MATZER from the inside through her participation in the productions Niemand wacht op je and Blind.
Agnes Bolwiender, the current business leader, will become director-director and assume this role ad interim for up to a year and a half.
