25 June to 4 Aug

This summer it is going to happen: the car is going. It has brought us much, individual freedom, adventure, convenience and eroticism, but its time has come. He must go.
Together with De Warme Winkel and Touki Delphine, Asko|Schönberg presents The Summer Sacrifice.

The Summer Sacrifice is inspired by the famous Le sacre du printemps (The Spring Sacrifice) by Igor Stravinsky. Where in the original ballet a young woman is sacrificed, in ours, every night, for 35 summer nights, the four-wheeler of someone in the audience dies. Someone who is ready to take a pass to let the earth catch its breath. Those who want to survive must sacrifice. And sacrifice is never painless....

In a grand musical theatre spectacle in which theatre, music, song and dance merge into a contemporary yet timeless ritual, our beloved car comes to its end.

De Warme Winkel is undoubtedly the most talked-about theatre company in the Netherlands. In 2019, they performed at the Amsterdam Bostheater with the acclaimed The Three Musketeers, which broke all attendance records. Then they were spectacular and hilarious, now they go for monumental and poetic. Together with the internationally renowned multitalents of Touki Delphine and master musicians of Asko|Schönberg, a large ensemble of actors, singers and musicians is venturing into this challenge of the outer category.
