Wim Landuyt was crowned Dutch Poetry Slam champion on the evening of Saturday 21 September 2024. The 22nd edition of the NK Poetry Slam, part of the International Literature Festival Utrecht (ILFU), saw eight talented word artists compete for the national title.
The Final
In an exciting final, Wim Landuyt took on Ivar van der Walle. Landuyt managed to convince not only the jury but also the audience with his performance. The jury described his performance as "phenomenal" and compared it to listening to a racing car - "wild and improvisational, ironclad".
The Price
As the winner, Landuyt received:
- The title Dutch Champion Poetry Slam 2024
- The Golden Finch challenge trophy (named after Simon Vinkenoog)
- A cheque worth €1000
Ivar van der Walle, who came second, went home with a €250 prize.

Presenting was Nicole Kaandorp (Slampion 2023) and Sophia Blyden.
About the Winner
Wim Landuyt, who previously won Poetryslam Rotterdam, is known for building bridges between art and technology, words and deeds. Speaking about his win, he said, "Language is a very powerful weapon to do very good things with".
About the NK Poetry Slam
The NK Poetry Slam, now in its 22nd edition, is a verbal boxing match where emerging poets compete with their imagery, metaphors and recitation. The event emphasises on both content and performance, with the main aim of enthusing the audience.
