Haarlem - Money new policy: national cuts softened
(...) [theatre, film and production house] Toneelschuur Productions will lose its state subsidy from 2013. This threatens the disappearance of this unique production house. (...) Haarlem is economically heavily dependent on culture. The cuts will therefore not only lead to the impoverishment of our cultural climate, but also to fewer jobs and a blow to the creative economy in our city. We have now managed to allocate €200,000 for 2013 and €130,000 for 2014 (€60,000 per year from the culture budget, the rest from new policy) for a rescue plan for Toneelschuur Productions. (..)

Hoorn - Theatre needs to make fewer cuts
(...) Schouwburg Het Park needs to make fewer cuts from the council [the cut will be limited to €155,000 in 2015] and a majority of the council has serious reservations about halving Radio Hoorn's subsidy. (..)
The college believes that people and institutions should look less automatically to the municipality and that they have a great responsibility of their own. The college therefore proposed to the council to cut over 1.8 million euros annually from the total budget of 20 million euros for subsidies from 2015. That is over €570,000 less than proposed. The cuts to subsidies will be introduced in stages from 2013. (..)

Bollenstreek - Library membership fee 10 euros up
In 2012, Library Bollenstreek is raising the membership fee by 10 euros to 42 euros per year and for 16-17-year-olds to 21 euros. According to the library, this is a substantial but necessary increase because the library receives less subsidy. To save costs, the library is buying fewer books and introducing self-service.
Library Bollenstreek is reckoning with a €230,000 cut in its municipal library subsidy for 2012. (..)

Zaanstad - Singing on the Zaan wants more subsidy from municipality
(...) Singing on the Zaan gets 12,500 euros from the Zaanstad municipality, after a substantial cut in its subsidy this year. But now the organisation wants an additional 7,500 euros.
"The interest from choirs across the country has been overwhelming. ... We need more venues . We need at least three more. Maybe even more, as applications are still coming in weekly from choirs all over the country." (..)
