Actors' award for Theatre Institute threatened with dissolution

Mail from Actors' Interests, the actors' 'union'. Whether we want to abide by the embargo. Of course we do. We do.

Butreh: so the Theater Instituut Nederland, to be dissolved by Halbe Zijlstra together with the Muziekcentrum Nederland, will get an award. And that appears to be a sculpture, which in turn makes us wonder where that thing will be after 1 January 2013. Because then the building will be gone.

Henkl Scholten, director of TIN hands out something here himself. a petition with 18000 signatures to the second chamber. Who did nothing.

But so here is the press release from the actors.

Dear editors,

Tonight, the ACT Award will be presented at the annual ACT gala.
Under embargo, we hereby send you the press release with the winner.
Please do not announce before 0:00 tonight!
Sincerely,
ACT management

Theatre Institute Netherlands wins ACT Award 2012

ACT presented the third ACT Award to Theatre Institute Netherlands tonight, 4 June, at the ACT Gala at the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam. The award was received by director Henk Scholten. Theatre Instituut Nederland received the award for its important contribution to the preservation and archiving of theatre history.

Patrick Stoof on behalf of ACT: The Theater Instituut Nederland has helped us tremendously all these years. To plays, sheet music, background information and exhibitions. Suddenly, this is no longer cultural heritage and so the TIN no longer gets any money. But the TIN is incredibly important to us. With the ACT Award, we are giving something back to Theater Instituut Nederland.
