Help! Find the Lost Painters Folding Bike!

In the art theft category, this is the lowest form: stealing an old folding bike outside the door of an expensive art fair. Then grab that redundant navigation system from that Porsche Cayenne, the Guccitas carelessly placed on the counter, or slide that triple-insured, diamond-encrusted iPhone from that coffee table under your newspaper and continue to enjoy your conscience outside.

But not Lost Painters' bike.

The bike that always accompanied him on his travels to galleries, vernissages, openings and fairs, wherever that bike can get to with or without the help of train and bus. All of Europe has seen him, and on all the reports on the Lost Painters site he can be found somewhere.

So not any more. Taken by someone who is probably scared out of his wits when he notices that this snazzy mountain bike breaks in two when you press that one button. Because it's a folding bike in disguise.

In short.

We are not counting on the Brussels borrower in question being among our target audience, or that of our partner Lost Painters. But you might see the odd mountain bike lying around somewhere. In two pieces. Or... well.

Without a bike, Niek can't go on reportage. Can't be inspired. Niek opened his bank account.
