Anti-racist artwork 'Exhibit B' cancelled under pressure from anti-racists

23,000 signatures and a host of public meetings have caused Brett Bailey's impressive Exhibit B in London to be cancelled. The show, or rather, the event, has previously been seen with great success in the Netherlands, and also garnered nothing but praise in Edinburgh. We too went to see it, and we were impressed.

Exhibit B brings a modern version of the Human Zoo as it existed in Europe and America until and early 20th century. Inhabitants of Africa were shown to the public in cages. In Exhibit B, South African artist Brett Bailey puts actors in cages, with signs around their necks, in order to confront the Western viewer with his still deeply racist view of fellow differently-abled people.

According to the organiser of the protests, Sara Myers, that ironic double bottom is lost on this artwork. According to her, the event is a step back in history.

Our question: have you seen Exhibit B yourself and what do you think of Sarah Myers' thesis?
