This is a must-see at the STRP Biennial!

Eindhoven is the mecca of experimental electronica for a while every two years with the STRP Biennial. In the city of lights in Brabant, you can enjoy no less than nine days of leading dance acts. In addition, experimental performances explore the intersection between film, art and technology. Culture Press makes a preselection.

Hypnotic dance swell

Britain's Factory Floor has one foot in the past but looks musically to the future. At first listen, their minimal electronica is indebted to the hedonistic sound that emerged in 1980s Manchester, where post-punk and house came together in an addictive mix. Factory Floor maintains a strict monotony with rhythmic breakdowns that slowly hypnotise you and drag you into an aural swell. Their first plate was already well-received and now they can be seen at STRP. Get in the mood in advance with the intoxicating Fall Back.

Return of original Dance legends

The influential Underworld put dance on the map in the 1990s with their innovative albums and the hit Born Slippy. Their unique sound and visuals-laden live performances quickly earned them a reputation as one of the biggest artists within the dance genre. The band will perform the cult album Dubnobasswithmyheadman playing in full for the audience.

Psychedelic soundscapes

STRP also has its finger on the pulse when it comes to new acts. From the always innovative Warp label are represented by Chris Clark and Actress, who stood out last year with albums Clark and Ghettoville. And then there are the haunting soundscapes of The Gaslamp Killer. His psychedelic music is a fascinating amalgamation of acid rock, eastern sounds and breakbeats that listens away like an exotic trip.

And besides these acts, there is of course much more to experience at STRP. For the full programme, go to http://strp.nl/
