Life is short - watch films, is the motto of Go Short short film festival

Fans of the short film rush to Lux in Nijmegen for the seventh edition of Go Short (8 - 12 April). The annual short film festival with European and Dutch competition, alongside this year's surprising work from the Baltics, a summer in the Balkans, an hour and a half of cat films, and much, much more.

Short films offer creators much more freedom than the traditional feature film formula. At Lux, we can immerse ourselves in a warm bath of creativity, from the poetic to the experimental.

And when it comes to new talent, look out for Mees Peijnenburg, who saw his enchantingly beautiful A Hole in My Heart (Un Creux dans mon coeur) premiere at the Festival Berlin earlier this year. A teenage boy, after a great loss, is determined never to commit to anyone again, but whether that can be sustained...

As Peijnenburg also proved two years ago with his graduation film Cowboys howling, he is very good at capturing a certain sense of life. Emotional depth without much dialogue. This time shot on location in an isolated French village where he had previously met the young protagonist. Most of the other actors are also non-professional and recruited locally. Nice work. We look forward to when Peijnenburgs will make the transition to feature-length film.
