At the international Istanbul Film Festival (4 - 19 April), Turkish filmmakers collectively withdrew their films following an intervention by the Culture Ministry. Three hours before the premiere of the documentary Bakur (North), the ministry put a stop to this by demanding that Turkish films can only be screened if they have an official registration certificate.
