Ruben Brugman predicted it on 22 June. So a total surprise it was not. On Friday 4 October, the VSCD Dance Awards, the Swans, were presented at The Dutch Dance Days Gala of Festival de Nederlandse Dansdagen 2019 at Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht. Conny Janssen, artistic director of Conny Janssen Danst, received the Golden Swan from Minister van Engelshoven for the great contribution her career has made to Dutch dance. The Zwaan for 'most impressive dance production 2019' was awarded to The Way You Sound Tonight by Arno Schuitemaker. Dancer Redouan Ait Chitt was awarded the Zwaan for 'most impressive dance performance 2019' for his role in REDO by Shailesh Bahoran/ Illusionary Rockaz Company.

Conny Janssen Danst: 'Janssen makes connections between audiences and her work with professionals from different art disciplines, encourages emerging talents and exchanges with the amateur dance field. To do so, she regularly breaks out of the fixed frameworks of theatre and dance studio to take the audience to unusual locations; from church to factory hall, from a submarine shed to tram depot. In this, Conny Janssen shows herself time and again to be an adventurous cultural entrepreneur.'
The Way You Sound Tonight: 'With Schuitemaker's choice of this 'acoustic dance hall', you are immersed in a seductive experience bordering on ecstasy. The thirst for perfection, the original interpretation of movements from club dance and the inescapable compulsion, make The Way You Sound Tonight the most impressive production of last season, according to the jury.'
