I have always found the Q to be a nice fresh thing. Now unfortunately I am not a synesthete, but my imagination tells me today that the Q feels cheeky. Sounds nice and succinct. The Q qlaps in my qeel And is spicy blue. Or shiny. Not ordi, but cool. From shiny metallic seventies leather. The Q in a catsuit. Supple now plays nice. Almost accidentally sexy. Because hey, there are more important things. Dóórbreken and playing even more, for instance. Yes, my Q is spicy. Influenced by a music documentary I recently saw on Uur van de Wolf.
Hitting
It is the Q of Suzi. Suzi Q. Her name vaguely rang bells. Music. Rock. Pretty tasty. Now and then. Now she resonates after. Not necessarily her music. The woman, though. Suzi Q. The woman who, as a girl, already knew what she wanted. Into music. Prompted by her father who got all the sisters and brother in and into music. That alone is great, of course. Though today's world has long tried to place all responsibility of success or failure on a private person. Environment has influence. This is yet another proof. Otherwise, read Intimacy by Paul Verhaeghe.
Admirable path
Suzi Q broke through. Not with her very first Sisters & Friends band, but solo. Which, from the looks of it, didn't go very subtly. Her sisters and father also talk about that in this documentary about Suzi Q.
Finally, with the right people around him and a statement in clothing (leather catsuit), she screamed, sang and barked the music out of her body as a twenty-something. Because something obviously needed to come out. She appears to have been a role model, figurehead might be better, for playing rockchicks. Girlbands. Logical. Until then (and still now), men predominated on the stages of any genre. Women then sing remarkably often. Suzi Q once got the bass around her shoulders. Her music pounded. It knocked. I prefer not to use the hackneyed word authentic. But something along those lines certainly applies to this bassing and singing bomb of focused energy.
No kittens for Suzi
No doubt I have been living under a blanket in this and the whole world has known her for a long time. Better late than never. Very stimulating to meet someone like this again who knows what she wants. Does what she wants. To the music. Doesn't seem prone to games. Doesn't get distracted by all the marketing violence, sex, drugs and maquila glam-men. Being and remaining himself. With great success.
One of those musicienne (m/f) who doesn't boast about her looks (which is pointed out by another feisty tiep who still seems retroactively puzzled by this), but just wants to do one thing: play. Play, play, play. That was (and is ) what it was all about. Also just wanted to kids. With the guitarist. Who eventually turned out to be a beer sniffer. He's now one of those old rockers with half teeth. She remained that feisty 19-year-old lady. Went into acting too. Combine that with music and so Suzi Q became a musical star too. Probably not all her hard rock fans could appreciate that. She did all kinds of things. Not a pigeonhole thinker here. But a musical person on the move. Still is and rocks in leather in 2020 too. Check out her agenda.
Contagious
Yes, this kind of creator makes me happy. Something of its power I feel immediately. Creators who found their path early on, thanks to talent, perseverance, focus, hard work and a stimulating environment in their youth-a fluke I know too, hooray-very nice! And how good that, thanks to documentary filmmaker Liam Firmager, I got to know her better. Hope that applies to more people. Hence these words, which I hope are pretty catchy. And ah, that Suzi Q's rockmusic mine is only occasionally, need not apply to you, of course.
Watch and listen and see for yourself if and what Suzi Q triggers in you.
A suivre!
PS Feel free to let me know if you are touched by my words that came out smoothly this time (about 4 hours). Inspiration hehe;). Share, donate or comment: it's all appreciated by this Music Storyteller, thank you.
