Thursday 16 June sees the start of the theatrical and musical art spectacle on the water Bosch Parade. Until Sunday 19 June, the public can experience (for free!) the floating, paddling and swimming procession of artworks from the banks of the river Dommel in the centre of 's-Hertogenbosch. Each evening will end with a whirlwind and atmospheric closing ritual in the Garden of DelightsThe theme this year is 'seduction'.
Bosch Parade 2022
This edition, too, visual artists, designers, composers, directors and choreographers from home and abroad pay tribute to Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516) with a fascinating journey sailing art objects full of symbolism, fantasies and absurdities. They will show a unique 'cruise of the incongruous', with nineteen quirky artworks passing by in just over an hour.
The art spectacle will conclude on 16, 17 and 18 June with a dazzling and atmospheric closing ritual at the Garden of Delights, the colourful hotbed on the Citadel where artists work(ed) on their objects and Atelier van Lieshout exhibits a collection of impressive works.
For all
Bosch Parade is accessible (for free), for young and old: almost everywhere along the route, people can sit on the rampart or in the greenery. On the Stadsbalkon near Berenwoutstraat and in the grass of the embankments there is room to watch the parade on your own chairs or rugs. Visitors can also opt for a comfortable, paid seat with the best view, on one of the three Bosch Parade terraces.
THE PROGRAMME: UNIQUE COMBINATIONS
At Bosch Parade, audiences will see extraordinary combinations from which all kinds of things emerge to see, hear, taste and feel. Artists from home and abroad transcend their own disciplines and work together as collectives and individuals, inside and outside the paths of art. So all sorts of things to see, and more... including:
  • Floating dance-performance installation: NAÎAD
  • Dance makers Celine Werkhoven and Anna Zurkirchen joined forces with composer Antonio Alemanno and architect Ad Roefs for NAÎAD, a floating performance installation on which two female creatures lure drowning people out of the water with alienating dance, wringing their bodies and limbs in impossible twists and doublings.
  • Sample fish of steel and old iron : Angler Maiden
  • For American Lisa Nigro, collaborating for and with communities around the world is crucial. She previously created interactive artworks full of fire effects with groups of volunteers for arts festival Burning Man. For Bosch Parade, she constructs with Bossche stakeholders Angler Maiden, a monstrous fish, constructed from steel and old iron, which seduces fishermen with its music, colours and fiery character.
  • Cooking and enjoying the sauna in installations: Garden of Delights
  • In the Garden of Delights - the festive Bosch Parade incubator on the waterfront of the Citadel in 's-Hertogenbosch - the arts and special perspectives come together surprisingly. At, in and on the works of Joep van Lieshout, for example. There is daily cooking in his imposing installation House of Transition and visitors fume there in his sauna Wellness Skull.
