THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE

The Hot Peaches is a new coming-of-age production by DOX and the Toneelmakerij. Director Timothy de Gilde makes the performance in co-creation with eight performers with diverse backgrounds, both private and in artistry. Each brings their own discipline and together they shape a multifaceted performance, sharing their history of finding and shaping their own identity and sexuality. The performance will premiere in Utrecht on 22 September and can be seen in Dutch theatres until 25 November.

For more information, check out The Hot Peaches page of DOX and De Toneelmakerij and see the teaser. Secure a seat at the premiere on 22 September? Reserve a spot in advance via the link below!

About the show

Welcome to the Peach party full of make-up, glitter and glamour. A dazzling performance, as if you were backstage at the club. Meet seven young creatives who don't feel at home anywhere. Together they form a new family: The Hot Peaches. With music, dance, fashion and text, they create a safe place where everyone can be themselves. Hot Peach host Jimmy takes you with him: "There is no time to lose, discover who you are. Because tomorrow you'll be 80."

Whoever you are, whatever pigeonhole people try to put you in, anyone can be a Hot Peach.

The Hot Peaches travelled between New York and Amsterdam. Extravagant shows, performed in various underground venues, were a celebration of diversity, inclusivity and being free. Audiences saw the performers as role models. Behind the costumes and bravado were personal dramas. Founder Jimmy Camicia wrote a book about his life as Hot Peach: My Dear, Sweet Self. Director Timothy de Gilde takes the same approach for this show as The Hot Peaches did in the 1970s.
