Experience mime at the Zéro - Mime & Performance Festival: the first two-day festival in the Netherlands devoted entirely to physical and visual theatre. Expect new and established makers, location performance alongside large hall productions, comforting alongside abrasive, inside and outside de Meervaart 15 and 16 December 2022. Including turboslapstick performance Knock-Out and Erosion, winner of the BNG Bank Theatre Prize.

Mime in the Netherlands is multifaceted: it sometimes touches on visual art, sometimes moves towards text, but also draws inspiration from modern dance, film and music. It is physical, associative, poetic. It is precisely this broad, interdisciplinary character that the new Zéro Mime & Performance Festival wants to show.

In addition to Knock-Out by Jakop Ahlbom Company& ISH Dance Collective, see the latest performance by mime duo ROTOR (winner of the BNG Bank Theatre Prize), recent work by young mime makers and performers, installations and after-parties. Not a mime connoisseur? Visit an aftertalk or take the Watching course in mime: an exercise in watching.

ZÉRO: A world to marvel at and be touched by. A festival by Stichting Mimeplatform Nederland: Jakop Ahlbom Company, Golden Palace and Schweigman& in collaboration with de Meervaart.

Programme 15 & 16 December

Knock-Out - Jakop Ahlbom Company& ISH Dance Collective

Physical comedy about greed and avarice, inspired by the films of the Coen Brothers and Jackie Chan. Full of acrobatic tricks and visual effects. Last performance of the tour!

Erosion - performance collective ROTOR

As the balance between man and nature approaches a tipping point, the performers engage poetically with a looming landscape. Winner BNG Bank Culture Prize 2022.

Apocalypse - Tamar Blom

How legitimate is the fear of the glow of our last days? This installation marks how our relationship to the world has changed dramatically in the last two hundred years.

A ship called Somnium - Rachel Schuit (outdoor location)

A theatrical individual experience about being cherished and carried. While lying on the water, with all your senses open, you experience the environment in a whole new way.

This is not a lament, it's the scream of a bird of prey - Francesca Lazzeri & Maja Grzeczka

Two people in silence, constantly questioning each other, alert. When one moves, what happens imperceptibly to the other? Will it be a fight or caress? A visually, physically demanding duet.

The performance with perhaps the longest attendance ever - Elias de Bruyne (outdoor location)
The show with perhaps the longest attendance ever tries to be a show with perhaps the longest attendance ever.

I might just sit down - Lara van Hoof and Sanne Bokkers

Viewing course in mime
Floor van Leeuwen offers a watching course in mime: a warm-up for the spectator and practice in watching.

Hostess: Dorothy Blokland
