How do we ensure that the museum sector remains financially healthy and future-proof? In what ways can we transform museums into sustainable and attractive workplaces? And in what ways do we encourage inclusivity and diversity? These pressing questions are at the heart of the new learning programme Leadership in Culture (LinC) x Museum Association.

Challenges

LinC x Museum Association was created on the initiative of the Museum Association and focuses on employees in the museum sector who are involved in the business side of the organisation. Several challenges currently lie ahead to create a future-proof sector. The following major themes are therefore central to the five master classes in the programme:

  1. Personal leadership and Public Value
  2. A sustainable organisation
  3. A financially agile and resilient organisation
  4. An attractive and inclusive working environment
  5. Collaboration within the organisation

Speakers

For each of these themes, we zoom in on the strategic challenges involved. Each master class takes place in a museum that relates to the theme in question. We end each masterclass with an open Q&A with the business director of that museum. At this edition, these are: Ina Klaassen (Museum Boijmans van Beuningen), Rutger Hamelynck (NEMO Science Museum), Annabelle Birnie (H'ART Museum), Anastasia van Gennip (Van Abbemuseum) and Marco Grob (Centraal Museum).

Network

LinC stands for gaining the latest insights, reflection, knowledge sharing and inspiration. With our programmes, we create networks. Participants are connected to the national network of LinC professionals and form a regional knowledge network themselves. Together, we work on new connections between institutions, disciplines, culture and society and on a vital, decisive and financially healthy sector.

LinC x Museum Association is part of a series of international, national and regional LinC editions. Alumni of the programme can join Club LinC, the alumni association that maintains the network and organises various activities for its members.
