Dance interweaves old with new on Night of Lights
Delft, Monday 2 December - Museum Prinsenhof Delft and Delft Fringe Festival are treating the city to a dazzling evening of dance on Tuesday 10 December. One last time before the museum closes
doors closes for a multi-year renovation, eight dancers dance the stars from heaven during Lights Evening. The choreography and music were created especially for this moment and location. It will be an evening to attend and never forget.
This is the third year in a row that Museum Prinsenhof and Delft Fringe Festival have joined forces for Lichtjesavond, a city-wide public event. With over 4,500 visitors each year, this collaboration has been a great success. Now that the renovation of Museum Prinsenhof is imminent, it is time to enjoy this annual collaboration one last time before the doors close for several years.
Theme old versus new
For this evening, the eight dancers were inspired by the theme 'old versus new'. The museum has a centuries-old history: once the St Agatha monastery where William of Orange was shot, it is now a museum that also showcases work by modern artists.
Delft Fringe Festival is a breeding ground for new artists who are still discovering and conquering their place in the world of the performing arts. They experiment within their own work and genre, push boundaries and introduce audiences to today's world.
What is there to see on Shining Night?
The dancers perform their performances one after the other on a stage in the middle of the historic Van der Mandelezaal in Museum Prinsenhof Delft. In total, the programme lasts 50 minutes and can be seen three times.
Night of Lights in the Van der Mandelezaal is continuously open via the entrance on Oude Delft. The canal is attractively lit and inside it is warm and cosy.
Tickets or a reservation are not required. Entrance is free. The full programme will play three consecutive times this evening, at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm. You can walk in at any time.
